Umarex Primal 20 Big Bore

This innovative, ambidextrous PCP shotgun uses an integrated 24 cu in (393 cc) air cylinder. When filled to its maximum of 4,000 psi with atmospheric air from an electric airgun compressor like the Umarex ReadyAir it provides 3 high-powered shots per fill. This translates to incredible velocities–up to 725 fps with Primal 20 395 grain .625 caliber slugs–and excellent knock down power at 461 ft. lbs. The options don’t stop there, however, as the Primal 20 blasts a ¾ oz. load of shot at impressive dense patterns out to 30 yards. Longbeards beware!
The Primal 20 features a straight pull knurled bolt at just the right length that can be adapted to either side of the rifle making it truly ambidextrous. Incorporated into the bolt is an innovative drop safety mechanism—a first in big bore airguns—engineered to prevent accidental discharge when cocking the gun. A tough dark green polymer stock that’s comfortable for both left- and right-handed shooters combined with matte black finishes on the metal parts help to keep you concealed when hunting.
The magazine is a dual chamber, bi-directional linear mag that can be loaded from either side and is manually indexed with the quick push of a button meaning you’ve got a two-shot capacity. Load both chambers of the mag, insert it into the rifle from either side, pull the bolt back, push the safety to fire, send it, then push the mag button and slide it over to the next chamber until it clicks, rack the bolt again, and fire—no need to pause for reloading. The Primal 20 is topped with an integral Picatinny rail so you can aim using the optic of your choice—a scope when shooting slugs or a red dot if shooting turkey. For those want to try their hand at air gunning clays or hunting turkey using a shotgun sight there are multiple options available such as those from HI-VIZ or TRUGLO.
Attaching your choice of air filling devices to the Primal 20 is easy with the end-mounted Foster Quick Disconnect fitting and determining how much air remains in the rifle’s reservoir is simple with the side-mounted air pressure gauge.
The Primal 20 comes with a rifled standard Invector choke tube that has 12 grooves and a 1:35 twist so you can begin shooting slugs as soon as you get it. When using Umarex Shot Cups you’ll want to change to an aftermarket bird shot choke of your choice by buying the standard Invector or Mossberg thread pattern chokes available online and at sporting goods stores that offer shotguns.
Sold separately, Umarex Primal 20 Shot Cups are specifically made for the gun. They’ve been engineered and tested to perform optimally with 7-½ or larger shot, delivering excellent patterns. Just measure out ¾ to ⅞ of an ounce of your shot choice and pour it into the shot cup. Then gently insert the wad included with the Primal 20 Shot Cups and push it down evenly until it’s firmly seated on top of the shot.
